A still from ‘Into the Light‘
Are we crazy, making this the title of our first blog post?
We don’t think so. Perhaps the crazy ones are those folk who think they’ll change the world by constantly bombarding us with the same old gloom-and-doom graphs, statistics and cliches.
Fear can make you take immediate action and run from a lion that just popped out of the bushes, but a really slow rise in temperature or a gradual decline in fish stocks half a world away just don’t elicit the same response. Yes, ‘the sky is falling’, but it’s not falling quickly enough to matter to most people. This type of fear is more likely to make ordinary people feel paralysed than to make them charge onto the streets in protest. Paralysis … denial … apathy … belief that science or the government will fix it; however we wish to describe inaction, it’s a huge part of the problem.
